Laurence Fishburne will get a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2020. The Black-ish actor has enjoyed a long, successful career and made history when he starred in the 1991 John Singleton film Boyz n the Hood as Furious Styles. Fishburne’s career has thrived for over four decades and he is undoubtedly a star in the public’s eyes. Now he will have his own star to prove it.

While many people in today’s younger generation know Laurence Fishburne for his role as Pops on Black-ish and Morpheus in The Matrix franchise, his career encompasses much more than these two highlights.

Laurence Fishburne’s first role was in the 1972 made for television movie If You Give A Dance, You Gotta Pay The Band. In 1975, Laurence made his debut on the silver screen in the movie Cornbread, Earl and Me. Over the years he starred in many more movies including Apocalypse Now, Death Wish II, Rumble Fish, The Cotton Club, The Color Purple, School Daze, What’s Love Got To Do With It, The Matrix franchise, Mystic River, the John Wick films and The Mule.

At 57-years-old, Laurence Fishburne’s accomplishments are astounding. In addition to acting, he is a screenwriter, playwright, director, and producer. He is an Oscar, Tony, and Emmy award-winner and was nominated for a Golden Globe.  He paved the way for black actors when he became the first African-American to portray Othello on screen. He starred in the lead in the 1995, Oliver Parker movie Othello. Though Laurence Fishburne is known for his television roles and legendary film performances, he is no stranger to the theater and starred in the Broadway plays Two Trains Running, Thurgood, and The Lion in Winter.

When Laurence Fishburne portrayed Bill Foster in Ant-Man and the Wasp, he officially joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) adding a whole new generation of fans to his credit.
